Conrad's little shrug.
I’m so nervous about the pacing of these next two episodes, especially with the Benito of it all lol.
I’m so happy Belly can find herself, then find her way back to Conrad, I just wish we fleshed out her Paris beginnings a little more in 9.
What are your thoughts on the last two episodes? Love your account by the way!
This is pretty much exactly how I hoped things would go! Episode nine was a bit of a bummer because I was hoping 1) we'd get more Belly content (but I'm happy the Staylor plotline is now resolved, which leaves us more time moving forward) and 2) I was hoping we'd get to a montage covering their post-wedding months (but I bet we'll get that in the first ten minutes of episode ten).
I think sometimes people forget we're watching a TV show and there are inherent rules with TV -- they were never ever EVER going to reunite officially before episode 11 (it's tv, after all!), so as long as we get all the letters next episode and we're set up for Conrad to be in Paris in early ep 11, everything is on schedule!
And honestly, the last two episodes together are going to be 2+ hours long (much longer than your average movie!) -- so there's truly plenty of time!
I expect episode 10 will start with a montage getting us to late Fall/early Winter (Thanksgiving, Christmas, NYE), and Conrad's letters will show up within the first half hour or so. I also think Benito will just be a short flirtation - it looks like their date (with the darts) is around late December, and we know Conrad's letters arrive early January, so I bet it'll be casual and they'll remain friends since they have the same friend group.
Jenny hasn't deeply disappointed me yet this entire season so I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt. (I didn't love episode nine, but I think it'll play much better once we have the whole season - just like how episode three (which was universally despised when it aired) doesn't feel as bad now.)
SO many things this season have been wildly beyond my highest hopes. After S2 aired, and they announced the third season would be ten episodes -- my HIGHEST hope was the wedding getting called off at the end of ep 9/start of ep 10, because that would give us a MUCH LONGER epilogue than exists in the book. Instead, what I actually got was Jenny fighting for an eleventh episode AND the wedding plot was done by episode 8. LIKE, WE ARE SOOOO LUCKY HERE GUYS.
Hello! 💌
First of all: I absolutely LOVE your blog and your Bonrad content 🥹
I don't know if you read TSITP books, but I wanted to ask you something about them in the case. I've been meaning to read them, mainly (not gonna lie) for Belly and Conrad, and I wanted to ask if there are some books in the trilogy where we see more Bonrad material than others. Because I've seen people say, for example, that the first book has little of them, and especially very little of Conrad, and that it's different from the series, while the most similar of the books to the series is the third book in terms of their story. But since I don't usually trust these "voices" I am checking them asking to some of my fav Bonrad creators whose opinion I trust and value!
Thanks in advance 🤍
Thank you for the compliment! And yes, this is true! Book 1 and 2 are less close to the show plot, and honestly book!Conrad is different than show!Conrad in a few ways - 1) the show gives us insight into his decisions and character that we just don't get in B1 and B2 because those only have Belly and Jeremiah's POV and they don't always understand him and 2) he's honestly just kinder in the show / Jenny made him more likable. Book 3 is very similar though imo.
I was just asking about this on another account, but I love your posts, so I wanted your thoughts! How do you think Jenny will balance out all the storylines for the final episodes? I guess Belly’s new friends/Benito will be in all three episodes according to IMDb, so I’m worried how they’ll fit everything in? Not just with the love triangle of it all, but the storylines back home, while Belly is in Paris.
Mostly guessing, but this is what I think:
Ep 9 - focused primarily on Belly's first ~week in Paris, with the other storyline focusing on the immediate wedding aftermath in Cousins, e.g. relationships between the 3 Fisher Boys and Steven/Taylor.
Ep 10 - covers the fall/winter of her time in Paris, inclusive of Thanksgiving, NYE, and getting letters from Conrad starting in early January. (It's also possible ep 9 goes until NYE-ish and covers letter #1, and further letters are in ep 10) For the folks in the US, I think we'll get Thanksgiving scenes, Staylor stuff, Denise and Steven leaving Breaker/starting their own business (maybe with Jere), Conrad back in school with Agnes, and the boys making peace with each other.
Ep 11 - basically the Belly/Conrad diaries with them in Paris, reuniting, and then flashforwards showing their future a bit. (I expect to see Christmas 3.0 after Belly is back in the US.) I think the other folks will have a bit of storyline here but it'll mostly be Belly and Conrad.
So, I was hesitant on if we would get a Bonrad wedding, but I think we might now?
Laurel keeping Belly’s letter, Susannah’s (silver) ring not being used for Jelly after Conrad gifted it to them, the mention of Conrad needing to know what kind of jewelry his wife should like in that letter from his mom, and Conrad not seeing Belly in a wedding dress.
I am very hopeful we'll at least see them married! I'm not sure if they'll do a wedding, but I think we'll definitely get Belly wearing Susannah's ring in a flashforward and reading Susannah's letter for the audience.
Conrad Fisher was deeply unserious that entire episode because everyone kept being like "what did you think? She was going to call off her wedding *to your brother* and run away with you"? and his response was always "I mean, yes, hopefully"?
